SUPPORT BLACK WRITERS.
Lampblack is a volunteer-led community of Black writers.
In 2020, we organized under the banner of racial equity and community action to address many of the challenges that Black writers face today. We use our platform not only to continue conversations about inequity but also to create economic and educational support for our community through direct aid and our other programs. But we can’t do this alone.
Since 2020, we have:
Published over 60 Black writers
Provided monetary aid to over 100 Black writers
Hosted free summer workshops and events
Welcomed 64 black writers to share their work at literary events
Offered an online platform to readers and writers of Black literature
Crafted a free zine for us
We resist the limitations of traditional publishing routes that fail to fully represent the multitude of voices and experiences that reflect Black culture. Our work speaks truth to power, gives life, and brings joy. Help us publish more invigorating prose and poetry by donating to our 2026 campaign. This year our goal is to raise $25,000. Your support will ensure that we publish our sixth magazine issue, provide direct aid to Black writers, and cover labor and administrative costs.
